The nostalgic ‘Ubi sunt’ frame of mind provoked looking back phenomenon in searching for medieval manuscripts in 16th and 17th century England. This was followed by medievalism which was influential since the second half of the 18th century: one can witness many examples of this movement in 19th century architecture, art and literature in England and USA.
