Sandars lectures in Bibliography were launched in 1895 as the annual event, taking place in the Cambridge University Library. Lyell lectures followed soon in Oxford. I was made a Sandars Reader in 2016-2017, and gave three lectures on my fifty year long book collecting career, introducing many rare books as well as some curious books in my collection.
1895年以来ケンブリッジ大学図書館では、毎年Sandars Readerに選ばれた研究者が書誌学や書物史の講義を3回行ってきました。講師のリストは、そのまま英国における書誌学者の歴史でもあります。オクスフォードでは少し遅れてLyell Lecturesが始まりました。2017年3月、私は半世紀にわたる古書・中世写本の蒐集を回顧し、さまざま実例を挙げて3回の講演を行いました。これらは初めてビデオに収録されてYouTubeにアップされました。
