慶應義塾の文化コレクションを日英バイリンガルで発信。学内で展開する展覧会等の文化活動と合わせて紹介しています。

「慶應義塾図書館所蔵　西洋貴重書に見る書体と活字」と副題がついた展覧会「（西洋）文字景」が、慶應義塾図書館（三田メディアセンター）展示室で4月14日から５月２９日まで開催されている。入場無料・事前予約制

中世以前の書写材料や、写本から16世紀印刷本まで、27点が取り上げられて、ローマン・アルファベットの変遷が明らかにされる。今回、書誌学者A. N. L. マンビーがケンブリッジの講義で用いた書体の歴史に関する資料箱や、フィリップス・ギャスケル旧蔵の切り抜き帳が初めて公開されている。

最終日には「本景ー書物文化がつくりだす連想の風景」と題する国際シンポジウムが行なわれる。参加費無料・事前申込制（ウェブで確認のこと）。

Organized by Professor Takami Matsuda and his team, ‘[Western] Letter-Scape: Historical Scripts and Types from the Collection of Western Rare Books in Keio University Library, was launched 14 April 2021 at the Exhibition Room of KUL. As many as twenty seven items will be featured from an Egyptian hieroglyph to 16th century printing types, but the high-hlights should certainly be an 18th-century mahogany box of writing implements collected and used by A. N. L. Munby in his Cambridge classes and a collection of scrapbooks of woodcut initials formed by Dr Philip Gaskell. Admission free but reservation highly recommended.
