My encounter with Arthurian Legends

When I was a high-school student, I got attached to Wagner’s operas, which were broadcast at the end of every year asfrom the Bayreuth Festival. At Keio University, I became a member of the classic music appreciation club, attendingthe Bayreuth Festival featured in the newly launched Osaka International Festival, in which Wagner’s Tristan and Walkurewere performed with the world’s leading   singers. When I decided to take a second BA in English, I leant that SirThomas Malory wrote the Morte Darthur (1485), which was translated into Japanese by the later Professor Fumio Kuriyagawa, under whose supervision I got a BA and MA on Malory.  I have since worked on the comparison between Caxton’s first edition and the Winchester Manuscript, reading papers abroad and publishing articles in English.
